In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
As shown before these are the comparisons of my media product with existing products. The main challenge with existing products which came from my magazine is the fact that my Front cover and images are black and white. This is due to my magazine being exclusive and Mojo magazine of where I gained most inspiration has black and white issues when it is celebrating a feat such as 50th magazine.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojdbDYahiCQ
The audience for my magazine will be that of similar to Amy Winehouses fan base. As the genre of my magazine is Alternative Indie, my magazine represents this group by the cover stories, images, price (as it will be 16-25 so the cheaper price will be more affordable) and also the free CD given away as being in that age barrier i know a free CD does persuade whether you buy a magazine or not.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
WHSmith would be the perfect media institution to sell my magazine due to them in my eyes being the leading magazine orginisation. The dominance of WHSmith would be a great institution to sell my magazine as it would be accesible for all to purchase.
The publishers for my magazine would be Bauer.
This is due to many reasons. The first reason being that my magazine will fit perfectly in the demographic of the company. This is due to the magazines which Bauer already publish fitting within the genre of my magazine such as Q, Kerrang and most recently Mojo.
Another reason why Bauer will be the perfect media institution is due to the wide audience which could be gained, this is because of the wide amount of products it already publishes such as the magazines which I have stated above and also due to the wide range of television programmes such as Kiss TV, 4Music and Magic TV, so advertising would never be a problem.
Overall this institution would be perfect due to the wide amount of products it already distributes and also because the genre of 'Vinyl' will fit perfectly within this German publishing company.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
Those with an intrest in gigs and festivals. The image above taken from google shows the alternative indie style of people who my magazine is aimed towards. The typical alternative indie genre like bands and gigs which is why stories have an aim towards festival and gigs.
How did you attract/address your audience?
Through the images due to the eye line contact will attract the audience. Also the dominant colour and the mise- en- scene. Also by having an exclusive story and magazine it will attract my audience.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Through the main task I have learnt a lot of useful tips and programmes to help me produce a better product for my music magazine. As said before in a previous slide I also learnt Photoshop, illustrator and many other technological programmes.
A Nikon SLR camera was used to produce images. This was used again to create a professional feel.
Illustrator was the main technological device of the project as this is where the final copy was produced.
Photoshop was used to manipulate images to get a professional look
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I have learnt a great deal from the progression from my preliminary task to the main task. One main factor I learnt was time management as in the preliminary task time management was a great problem but I produced a schedule which helped loads and meant the i was able to produce more sketches and questionnaires.
Also Photoshop and illustrator have become a much more accessible programmes as I feel more confident in using them and believe my products have a more professional feel.

Overall what I learnt
The music magazine production was an exciting, fun and interesting task.
Research helped a great deal throughout the magazine.
Technology used e.g. illustrator, publisher, Photoshop, Nikon slr camera, and Google
Favourite parts:
Production, taking images and seeing final product
Technology- I learnt many different software's and programmes whilst creating the music magazine. I have become confident in Photoshop, illustrator and in design which are useful programmes.
Feedback- Feedback from teachers, peers and your genre age group are a huge and vital part in the development.
Time management- Splitting my time into sections helped a huge deal this time round as in the preliminary task this was not undertaken.
Final: Double Page Spread
The final double page spread has a wonderful feel and very fun and easy to read.
I am satisfied with the final product throughout the magazine.
My favourite features of this page are:
- • Black and white image
- • Title
- • Quote
This page is my favourite out of my production due to the images, bright colours and text. The same house colour is running through this page but with an added colour Pink showing it is an exclusive interview. This was done with my target audience in mind.
Final: Contents Page
This is the final contents page for the music magazine.
The colour scheme has been kept the same as the front page creating a house colour.
I especially like the way the contents page is laid out.
As stated before I found the contents page challenging but due to research it helped me gain inspiration and meant that following my own set guidelines i was able to produce a professional looking contents page.
Front Page Final
This is the final front cover for the music magazine.
Many different elements of the front cover make this an striking piece especially:
- • The black and White image
- • Colour scheme
- • Eye connection
I am so happy with the finished product and truly believe it will compete with existing products due to the overall professional and strong look.
Compare with existing products: Double page spread
The double page spread has some striking comparisons as well as contrasts. As you can see my Double page spread stands out much more than the existing product, which is aimed towards the target audience. Here is a list of the comparisons:
- Quote
- One main Black and White image
- Lure to inform it is an interview
- Subordinate images
- Highlighted text
